04.12.13 .2014 SCREENINGS: LIAR will screen in Competition at the London Short Film Festival in January 2014. It will then travel to the Glasgow Short Film Festival and screen in competition for the Scottish Short Film Award on February 15th. at the CCA. 02.11.13 .LIAR will screen in International Competition at the Zinebi Bilbao International Short Film Festival, in Spain from the 15th to 22nd November. The film, winner of the BAFTA New Talent Award for Best Writing, was made for Collabor8te with Blue Iris Films, Rankin Film Productions and The Bureau.
10.10.13 .SHOWS, Martin Smith's debut feature project has been selected for the BFI Film London Micro Market. The Market will provide 20 film-making teams with a day of dedicated meetings with financiers looking to source projects budgeted at 2M Euros and under. Teams will have the chance to pitch and discuss their projects with selected financiers, including representatives from sales companies, investment funds, post houses, online and VOD platforms and public agencies, in addition to vital training ahead of the Market. The aim of the Micro-Market is to support projects budgeted at levels not currently served by the industry and help film-makers source finance for specific feature films. In addition the programme will increase film-makers skills and knowledge around pitching and packaging and build their networks to enable a more sustainable financing base for their future projects in both the private and the public sector.

11.02.17 .NAMES, the latest screenplay by Martin Smith launches at the Glasgow International Film Festival on the 23rd February 2017. The project has been developed through Creative Scotland's BellRock ScreenLab. The Screenwriting Labs were hosted by Hospitalfield in partnership with Producer and Script Consultant Olivia Stewart, of Three Rivers Film. Martin is developing his project with mentorship from script advisor Ian Sellar.

Six projects by Scottish-based emerging screenwriting talent have been selected for development into feature-length screenplays as part of an initiative to strengthen development opportunities across Scotland’s Screen Sector. 15.02.16 .SEAGULLS won an Outstanding Achievement Award from the State Of California Senate at the Borrego Springs International Film Festival, California. The prize was awarded on the 11th January at the festival's closing ceremony.

18.11.15 .TRACKS is screening as part of the BFI's Britain On Film season. The film supports Danny Boyle's SHALLOW GRAVE in Leith Late's 'Made In Edinburgh' screening on Saturday 21st November at Leith's Destiny Church (formerly the Central Cinema).
05.09.15 .FESTIVAL UPDATE: SEAGULLS has a number of new screenings lined up to round off 2015. In September it plays the Benicia International Film Festival, California, then onwards to the Harlem International Film Festival, New York. It ends September playing in South Korea in Competition at the Seoul International Short Film Festival. In October it plays the Manlleu International Film Festival, Spain, the Pamplona International Film Festival, Spain and the Kaohsiung International Film Festival, Taiwan. In November it hits LA, playing the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood in competitions at the Arpa International Film Festival, USA, the Weyauwega International Film Festival, USA, the Lviv International Short Film Festival, Ukraine and the Lancaster International Short Film Festival, USA. December sees the film in the International Competition at the Tenerife International Short Film Festival, Spain and Festival Tous Courts, France.
20.04.15 .SEAGULLS has won The Golden Reel Award for Best Short Children's Film at the Tiburon International Film Festival, California USA. It took home the prize on Friday 17th April at the festival's closing party.
25.01.15 .FESTIVAL UPDATE: SEAGULLS has ten new screenings lined up for 2015. In January it plays British Shorts Film Festival Berlin then onwards to the London Short Film Festival. March sees the film playing the Scottish Competition of the Glasgow Short Film Festival, then in International Competition at Regensburg Short Film Week, Germany and on to the International Competition at the Bermuda International Film Festival, the Sofia International Film Festival in Bulgaria and then the Byron Bay International Film Festival in Australia. April sees the film Playing the RiverRun International Film Festival USA, the Tiburon International Film Festival USA and the Kyiv International Film Festival in Ukraine.

20.02.14 .SEAGULLS has been nominated for the Crystal Bear at the 2014 Berlin International Film Festival. The film had its World Premiere at Berlinale, with four sold-out screenings in the Generation competition.

The film, written and directed by Martin and produced by Sarah Drummond through Screen Productions and Hopscotch Films with Creative Scotland and Digicult was made for Creative Scotland's Scottish Shorts strand. In Berlin it will compete for the Crystal Bear in the Generation category.
