Martin is an award winning freelance director who loves making deeply human stories that grab the audience's attention. He's a specialist in working with actors as well as faces from off the beaten track and loves using the casting process to find characters that reek of authenticity. His strong cinematic eye (Martin is a BAFTA Nominated Cinematographer as well as a BAFTA Winning Director) produces results that are rich, authentic and strike a powerful chord with audiences.

He's made a number of landmark campaigns for clients including The Scottish Government, Police Scotland, and the NHS. His recent commissions are for PHA Northern Ireland for their 'Helping Others' Mental Health campaign, a cinema and TV campaign for The Courier, a watershed campaign for the Scottish Government - We Are Scotland. and the epic Smile Again for Children 1st, Scotland's National Children's Charity. His latest are 'Scotland Is Love' and 'Scotland Is Open' for Visit Scotland, Brand Scotland and the Scottish Government. Scotland Is Now has been viewed by over 20 Million people within it's first two weeks of release.

His 'One Knife, Many Victims' Knife Crime film, made with the Leith Agency for the Scottish Government, Won the Gold Award at the 2016 Drum Roses Awards.

 

His 'Give A Child Their Smile Back' Cinema and TV campaign for Children 1st has been Nominated Best TV at the 2019 Nods Awards, and has been Nominated Best Casting of a Single Still at the Casting Director's Association Awards 2019.

 

His 'We Are Scotland' campaign for The Scottish Government has been Nominated for two Drum Roses Awards - Best Online Advert and Campaign and Best Public Sector Film at the 2019 Drum Roses Awards.

 

The Courier 'For The Real Stories' campaign was Highly Commended and Nominated Best TV & Cinema commercial at The Drum Scottish Creative Awards 2017.

 

He has also made a number of commercial documentary films for brands such as Stoichnaya, RBS, Williams & Glyn, Natwest, Clydesdale Bank, Yorkshire Bank, Speirs & Jeffrey, Laing, Cala Homes, Fisher Price and Visit Scotland, and campaign films for Relationships Scotland.
